Watermelon!

You might think Rosies favorite thing to eat is candy but it's actually watermelon. When she had surgery on her finger her treat/reward for being so brave was her very own watermelon and a pack of watermelon gum. She will however frequently sigh while eating candy and say "I wish there was watermelon candy"!
So of course the garden had to have its very own watermelon bed this year. Unfortunately so far they are the only seeds that haven't sprouted! Has anybody seen watermelon plants?

Evie wasn't too interested this year - she was busy throwing and chasing the frisbee. I guess the lure of a new skill was just too much. And speaking of new tricks, she just figured out how to do the monkey bars! She can be a bit fussy about that stuff so it was nice to see.

Easter... in no paticular order

Easter morning - the real rosie and evie!
Did you know Jules has eyelashes? The other two didn't have them until they were much, much older. Her hair hasn't fallen out yet either....
Tearing into the baskets and finding the favorite toy - a horrid whistle. What was the easter bunny thinking?
Jules and her first easter bunny! Mama made it and gave to the Easter Bunny! All four of us were crowded around her showing her basket stuff... poor thing didn't quite know what to make of it. She even got a chocolate bunny like sisters but we gave that to Papa.
Our Easter egg bread. It was pretty crummy actually, I need to work on that.
Mimi and Jules hanging out while the rest of the crowd was being wild with the glitter eggs.
What a good Papa!
Hunting for the eggs Papa hid so well.

All three girlies in their matching dresses Mimi and Papa gave them. Their initials were on the collar - so cute. Totally not something I would normally do but they did look absolutely adorable.
I promise Daddy was here, he was just being the unbelievable helpful and running around cooking and cleaning. Well that and avoiding the glitter eggs.

Adorable.

Just Jules doing those things babies do. And adorable? Yes, you are baby girl, yes you are.
I bet you'd like some Easter pictures, right? Maybe tomorrow. We were without power all day yesterday and I have 3 girls to get fed and to the Dr this AM .... pretty much an Olympic event.
Wish me luck! Hopefully Rosie's hand will be declared "all better"!

And that I'm hungry? Thanks.

First bath

Daddy does baths around here but he got a lot of help with Juliana's first. All three girls eventually ended up in the tub. It was working pretty well until Rosie decided to wash her face....
The last picture is Rosie's "termo set plastic" splint. And yes, it's really that bright.

Quick update on Rosie

Rosie got her cast off yesterday. Her finger looks wonderful(in a gross healing stitches/nail bed kind of way)! She'll be in a splint for another three weeks but it's able to come off for baths and such so it's not nearly as restrictive. The Dr. was very pleased with the outcome and her attitude, he said she was braver than most of is grown up patients.
Just wanted to share the good news!

What have we been up to?

Mostly just hanging out. Hehee

Nate's back to work today which is sad. We were very disappointed with the weather the last part of the week, we had so many plans foiled. So really all we did was just stick around home, adore Juliana and go the grocery store a lot. It was nice though - we miss you Daddy!

rotten candy

A month or so ago Mimi and Poppa took the girls to the circus. Being the fiscally responsible people they are they resisted the urge to buy the $20 cotton candy. So the next time I spotted some at the store I brought it home. rosie took one look at it and exclaimed "ROTTEN CANDY" ! Such a funny girl she is!

And of course I couldn't make a post with out a picture of the latest star of the show. This is from the same day as the oyster bowl shot. We're doing fabulous, staying super busy trying to take advantage of the time Nate has home. And up until today enjoying the gorgeous weather, boo to the nasty weather that moved in. I do have some other candid stuff still on the camera but right now I'm off to bed. I've got a baby getting me up every two hours and a husband that's decided to start snoring plus two big kids that climb in bed to sleep on me at daybreak. I'm just a wee bit sleep deprived ;)

Chunk. A Series.

Humor me, okay?

Happy Monday!

Jules first outing - a picnic at the park. It's like where's Waldo? Can you spot Jules?

This is what I woke up to this morning ... definitely a count your blessings picture. Again you have to hunt for Jules! Oh and no, they don't sleep with us all night long, they come in when they wake up and will usually fall back asleep. This is why we had to get a "King's Bed" (rosie speak) though!
The first time Jules got to play with Mama and her camera(unfortunately for me it only lasted about 2 minutes before we were found and she was woken up by her sister)! Poor baby is so splotchy, we think it's a reaction to our detergent. Got some more at the store to start experimenting and see if we can stop that nasty reaction. I managed to make most of them go away in PS, they were just too painful to look at!

I hope everyone had as good a weekend as we did. I guess it's not everyday you get to celebrate a new life and love though, right?

the unstoppable Rosie Posie

Soooo, Rosie's hand. You noticed, huh? It's not really as bad as it looks, although it could have been worse than it looks actually. Wednesday morning she got her finger shut in the heavy wooden outside door. It hit right on the nail bed ... ouch! We were very afraid that she was going to lose that finger tip based on the ER evaluation which was a really scary thing. The tip of the bone was broken and obviously the cut was pretty deep. However, the orthopedic surgeon on call that day just happened to be a hand specialist! After her surgery he said everything went really well and that he saw no signs of vascular trouble which was the big worry. He said that in time we shouldn't even be able to tell it happened. It really freaks me out that I can't check on the progress of her healing - I'm so afraid that when the cast comes off in a week and a half that it's going to be bad news! I guess we'll just have to trust him and pray.
Se was such a trooper! She didn't cry at all after we got to ER, just right when it happened. And she didn't get any pain meds until the surgery which was about 5 hours after it happened. So far the hardest part has been that it's itchy and that she has to be super careful around the baby.
Soo we had a pretty eventful week, huh? Wends in the ER all day. Thursday I had a OB appt with a sonogram to check for decreased movement and Fri we got our new baby girl!

Juliana Kate

We're back at home, feeling great and falling more in love every minute. Jules was born at home after another extremely short and easy labor. Must be that good hearty peasant stock in me. And while Rosie's labor was somewhat scary and whirlwindish, Jules came into the world all calm and peaceful right into Daddy's waiting hands, not even crying but looking at us wide eyed and alert. So far she's been wonderfully happy and content, already enjoying her sling and watching her sisters antics. I'm feeling awesome, much better than I could have ever thought.
Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm sure you'll be seeing more of her soon!
